Over the last few months I have taken some time to really focus on spending time with family, friends and enjoying the things that summertime brings. As most know by now, summer is by far my favorite season and every year as the days grow shorter and the weather begins to turn cold once more, I again feel sad to see summer go. No matter how much sun and time enjoying the nice weather I try to soak up, it never even seems to be close to enough to get me through the colder months.

I have been having a moment with simple dresses lately as they are one of the easiest items to throw on quickly without having to think too much. When summer comes around, while I love the warm weather (and would rarely complain), I am always looking for quick pulled together looks. It is also an easy excuse for me to wear the overgrown number of dresses in my closet … without needing to pair them with tights (because let’s be honest there are few clothing items worse than tights).

A little while back I did a post about how I stopped buying clothes for 2 months. Since then I have noticed that my clothing shopping has seriously been reduced and I am no longer constantly drawn to the mall or stores to buy more stuff to fill my closet. Today & Every Day
Happy Earth Day! Every year I let this day be a great reminder to myself of why I need to get out of my winter shell, go outside and once again get in touch with the Earth. It is a day to reconnect with this beautiful rock, commit to simple changes with big impacts and remind ourselves why it is so important to protect it, not just on this day but every day.

It is no secret that I love to travel. It is also no secret that I love saving money, am extremely cheap and live for amazing deals. When I was back in university I made a dumb (and likely drunk) new year’s resolution that I was going to travel more, and to my surprise, I did it; I went to Europe for the first time in my life. Since then I have made it a point to travel somewhere new (even just for a short period of time) every year. Now I know that this will not always be a luxury in my life (so I am going to enjoy it while it lasts), but over the years I have picked up and learned a few tips and tricks that have made budget traveling more attainable.

This past weekend Rye and I braved the cold and woke up early to head into the mountains. We hadn’t been in awhile and decided that because it was not going to be an absolute polar vortex that we would finally enjoy the winter weather (versus our usual bundled up inside the house with tea). It was great to get some fresh air and also do a bit of relaxing at the hot springs (after freezing our butts off for some amazing sunrise photos).
