A few weeks ago Rye and I headed into the mountains to get some more coveted shots of Moraine Lake before they close the road for the year. To our surprise, there was already a plethora of snow blanketing the roads and the mountains. Now don’t get me wrong, I do love the mountains in the snow (it is probably one of the most beautiful sites there is and also so iconically Canadian), but it is not a site I want to see in mid-September. Is anyone else as sad as I am about the sudden end of summer?

Another Big Life Update
So here it is, last I mentioned about my career I had decided to leave work due to the unhappiness and stress the environment was causing me. While I mostly left with little to no plans, there was one thing I kept from the story. During that time I took a long look at how my life was, would be and what I wanted from life. Often while we are in University there is so much confusion and on top of the assignments, coursework, and exams we are also expected to figure out how the rest of our life should look in a four-year span. Well for me, I was good at economics and finance, so it just seemed like a natural fit for my life and what I should do. But often just because we are good at something does not mean it is what we are destined or meant to do.

Over the last few months I have taken some time to really focus on spending time with family, friends and enjoying the things that summertime brings. As most know by now, summer is by far my favorite season and every year as the days grow shorter and the weather begins to turn cold once more, I again feel sad to see summer go. No matter how much sun and time enjoying the nice weather I try to soak up, it never even seems to be close to enough to get me through the colder months.

I have been having a moment with simple dresses lately as they are one of the easiest items to throw on quickly without having to think too much. When summer comes around, while I love the warm weather (and would rarely complain), I am always looking for quick pulled together looks. It is also an easy excuse for me to wear the overgrown number of dresses in my closet … without needing to pair them with tights (because let’s be honest there are few clothing items worse than tights).

I am a fan of summer, I do not think there is a person in this world who will dispute that. My friend and I used to spend our University study sessions joking around how we were island girls and the cold was just not for us (this was done with a coffee in hand staring at the massive snow piles). This year, I am back in Calgary for the first full winter in years and without a trip to somewhere warm at that. Previously, I was away at school in Vancouver and before that in Nova Scotia, so the extreme cold was something both myself and my body forgot about completely.

Rye and I recently escaped the city for the day to the mountains. It was a much-needed break for both of us with all of the craziness going on at work. It is so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of work and everyday life. Plus breaking out of the monotony of 8 to 5 is always an added bonus. I think it is so important to remind ourselves that there is more to this world than working away at a job you hate for money, maybe that’s why I am so adamant at a career change … again … or maybe I just can’t make up my mind.
