I have been struggling for quite some time (since moving really) on nailing down where home is for me. It has been a weird transition in my life because upon moving out this time it became very clear that it was more permanent than the times before. I was not off to school and returning back. It was me moving forward with my life and away from the childhood home, where I grew up and the place where I largely became who I am today. Moving was also a big step in my life and relationship with Ryan; it was really the beginning of planning a future together.

A little late, but again time seems to be flying by. This past month was filled with so many amazing moments. It was a month of accomplishments, family, and self-care for the most part and brought about new change (as I find spring and May generally does).
I am soon posting a life update that will encompass a lot of this but here is a brief look at the last month. My family celebrated my older brother graduating from University, I was accepted (finally) to return back to school, the warmer weather finally seemed to arrive (and Rye and I managed to make it into the mountains), and we finished a massive project at the cabin (to name a few). I was able (as most Calgarians were) to finally enjoy the nice weather, getting out gardening at my dad’s and finding some plants to spruce up the balcony at home. The summer is already ramping up and I am looking forward to some really great things to come.

A little while back I did a post about how I stopped buying clothes for 2 months. Since then I have noticed that my clothing shopping has seriously been reduced and I am no longer constantly drawn to the mall or stores to buy more stuff to fill my closet. Instead, I have found myself focusing more and more on only getting items that are needed or complete a well-rounded closet. I also have somehow managed to continue to donate or sell off items of clothing over the past few months (yes I have that many items of clothing in my closet).

This past weekend, Rye and I took a much-needed break from pergola building and tree planting at the cabin to capture some action shots of Achilles. While I pride myself on being a blog of whatever I feel like posting at any given time (and no real structure), I have not really posted the “dug photo-shoots” that we do every so often. So as today is Achilles’ 10th Birthday, I figured what better time than now to start sharing some of these photos (Also if you like doggies then I promise to share more of these posts in the future… if not then I apologize in advance for the overwhelming love and sappiness I have for Achilles that is about to follow).

One of my favorite parts of gardening is the planning process. Every year around Early to Mid-April I begin figuring out what exactly I am going to plant this year in the Garden and break out my spreadsheet to start filling it in for the season. This is my time to reflect back on last years season and try to fix or better my garden this year. It also just, in general, gets me excited for summer and garden fresh vegetables.

I am now convinced that 2018 is going to be the year that flies by because I have no idea where the first four months went, nevermind April (I have yet to determine if this is a good thing or bad).
April itself was an amazing month, minus the cold that latched in for a few weeks (but hey I got to catch up on a lot of Netflix so it was not a total loss). I was able to finally escape winter and go on Vacation with Rye. When we returned the weather began to warm up and dare I say it, spring may actually be here! And it was my birthday, which normally I avoid, but turning 25 was a big one for me. I also spent a lot of the month brainstorming and making some changes here on the blog, that are partially visible now, with more rolling out in the coming months. I am happy to say there are some great things coming that I am SO excited for!
